Legacy/Secret Path Week

Legacy/ Secret Path Week Information

We are challenging our CBE schools to get a combined total of 644 km (400 miles) walked during Secret Path Week, October 17-22. This is to honour and build awareness about the distance that Chanie Wenjack was attempting to walk when he left residential school to reunite with his family.

We will be doing a community walk during pe from Oct 19-23 and tracking our km walked as a school.

Secret Path Week is a national movement which occurs annually from Oct 17-22. The week was inspired by Chanie Wenjack, a victim of the residential school system.

Schools have an opportunity to become Legacy Schools and facilitate learning during this week and over the school year through stories of resilience and participating in the 'Walk for Wenjack', which raise awareness of the legacy of residential schools.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back everyone. I hope you had an exciting and safe summer. Phys ed this year is going to look quite different. I am still learning and figuring out all the new guidelines and safety protocol. Equipment will be quite limited and interaction will be very low. This means we have to be more creative this year in the activities we do. I will post more updates as they come in.  I am confident we can still make this a great year as long as we are all being respectful towards each other and understanding of the new protocols.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!
